This bee and a batch of his/her buddies contributes to the common good more than I do. I find that humbling.

Weekend Sketching

I sketched this from a photo that appeared in The Nature Conservancy's magazine, 2012, Issue 3.

Not real happy with my rendering of their faces, but it's a sketch.

Wonderful familial relationship depicted amongst the usual sad tale of shrinking territory and the resulting cost to chimp and human alike.

Predrawn Day

Predrawn Day by nlemmel
Predrawn Day, a photo by nlemmel on Flickr.

Thursday hasn't happened yet. There's a better than average chance it will, however, so I feel confident that my foot will still exist. I'll be doing my best to keep it toasty and happy. I promise.

Moleskine 2013: Wordsworth

Moleskine 2013: Wordsworth by nlemmel

The ink wash from the regions spread bled through, and resulted in the profile of a bearded man. The poem on the facing page is "The World Is Too Much With Us" by William Wordsworth.

Moleskine 2013: Forest Path

Ink wash, and a loose ballpoint doodle started looking like a forest path to me. I know the saying is "down the garden path" but I'm not trying to lead you astray.

Moleskine 2013: Smoooooth Operatooooor

Flipped to the back page of a National Geographic and found this treasure of a photo, and the "Smooth Operator" title threw me back in time.

I've had the great good fortune to work in small, pseudo-family work environments. While toiling away at the computer in my first job, I would occasionally burst out in song (I blame it on the radio). A thin edge of seniority over my office mates encouraged them to join in, and management soon dubbed us "Nancy and the Desktoppers." Good times, good times.

Hat tip to Sade for this wonderful tune. I strongly suspect that when I'm 90 something and my mind goes, this song will play in the elevator at the doctor's office and I'll break out in song again--imagining myself a 20 something Desktopper...fair warning to all!

A couple of very fun Christmas gifts are featured here. I have 4 of those magic little bicycle clips...how cute are they?!?
